I am equal parts, artist, gifted education teacher, and ADHD poster child.
I hand-cut my work from original drawings using #11 medical scalpels and either Hygloss silhouette paper or Canson papers. I am self-taught (it’s a permanent condition), and I am continuously learning as I go.
I’ve been cutting paper for over 20 years, but I’ve only now acquired a studio space be enough to house my hoarded art goods (and the pacing, so much pacing). When I moved out of my house in search of an apartment, I decided I was tired with fitting this “hobby” into my life, so I decided to seek out a commercial space. I looked at one website, saw one listening, made one phone call, and poof! Okay, there was a lot between the call and the poof, but luckily I worked with wonderful people along the way who made it all feel seamless…and “poofy.”
I’ve held only one soft opening and an event hosted by the lovely church, the Church of the Good Shepherd, that has allowed me to occupy a space – a beautiful space – on their grounds. It was a multi-use space that just happened to be vacant, and as their mission has so much to do with wellness, art, and community, it was a match made in heaven.
…See what I did there?
Here is to many, many, many more openings!
